Why everyone is making an Outstanding Tiny Desk

The clip is the end of “Outstanding” from Charlie Wilson’s 2023 NPR Tiny Desk Concert, a 1982 Gap Band song that went to number one on Billboard’s R&B chart. The full concert has more than 7 million views on NPR Music’s YouTube channel.

On 18 October 2026, Nashville songwriter Jake Whipple posted “College Football’s Week 8 All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert”: the same ending, with five coaches whose teams had just lost cast as the band with AI. It passed 2 million views on TikTok, The Athletic and AL.com covered it, and now everyone is putting their own crew behind the desk. Tiny Desk Outstanding AI does that from your photos.

How to make a Tiny Desk Outstanding AI video

Three steps, no editing app. The desk, the close-up, the sax solo and the song are built in.

  1. 1

    Cast the band

Add a clear photo of you for the laughing close-up. If you like, add up to four friends for the other seats: the lead at the red keyboard, the sax solo and the two backing singers. Empty seats keep their original performer.

  2. 2

Pick a quality and press Generate

100 credits at Standard (480p) or 200 at HD (720p) or 600 at Full HD (1080p), the same however many friends you add. The Outstanding clip and its audio are already loaded, so there is no prompt to write and no timing to match.

  3. 3

    Download and post

Rendering usually takes a few minutes and you can close the tab meanwhile. Your videos wait under “My videos”, ready to watch full size and download as MP4 with the song.
